Born Paul David Hewson, Bono was born in Dublin Ireland. The name Bono is derived from a hearing aid called Bono Vox and was given to Bono by a friend. Bono is the frontman to the worldwide famous pop band U2. Bono made his mark on the world by playing soulful and preachy music about issues that affected the world at the time. His greatest accomplishment consisted of helping establish and perform in the AIDs in Africa benefit concerts, Band Aid, Live 8, Live Aid, Live Aid 20 among others. He has also helped raise money for charities such as the Katrina fund and the Tsunami fun. Some would say that he nothing more than a preachy, pretentious, self serving, rock star with money, others would say that he is a great person, whom has done amazing humanitarian deeds, but whether his reasons are selfish or truely for the greater good, the effect of what he does is still there.

Some would use deragotive words to describe the person, such as preachy or egotistical. Many, if not a greater amount would describe him with words such incredible, humanitarian, great musician among other praise. He has done many great things to deserve such praise, mostly consisting of helping the AIDs crisis in Africa. He has help organize and perform in many charity events and concerts, most famous being Band Aid from 1984 which helped relieve famine in Ethiopia. Some events that shaped Bono's life were when he met his friend and soon to be band mate The Edge ( Real name: Dave Evans) and Larry Mullen Jr. (He gave Bono his famous nickname) and formed their band U2 and when he appeared in the single "Do They Know It's Christmas" delivering one of the most memorable and famous set of lyrics "Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you" refering to the starvation in Ethiopia, and the lack of action on the part of the U.S. and British Government. There were really not any obsticles for Bono to overcome, he basically sang, got rich, then helped people (Not meant to be deragatory, just simplist way to describe it).

Would the world be a better or worse place if Bono had never existed? If he had never lived, some other musician would have joined up with the others in Band Aid. Some other musician would have helped with the AIDs foundation, some other person would have done what he did. Bono has really never done anything different tha other musicians and celebrities like George Clooney or Sean Penn. So the point is, if Bono hadn't lived, someone else would have filled his spot. However that doesn't deny the fact that everyone can learn from what Bono does. He is indeed a great humanitarian (whether his intentions are good or selfish) and has done great things for the AIDs foundation and for the famine in Ethiopia. However had Bono never existed the biggest impact would not be on the things he has done for Ethiopia but more on the music world. Many have been influenced by Bono's band U2 and they continue to churn out hit after hit, and draw one of the biggest fanbases of any living performing band.

In conclusion... U2 is bad.
